Sorry Malcom! Our niece (who lives next door and is more like the daughter we never had) got covid in mid-November. Never hospitalized but down for several weeks. Gradual recovery, but definitely in the long-covid group. Her primary issues are arthritis-like pain in her knees, stomach upsets, and, predominately, totally screwed up taste/smell wiring - most foods smell rancid to her. We were working in the yard yesterday, as we were hauling some wild grapevines that we had cut down she commented “these smell like covid. Rancid.”
I’ve read that some of the long-covid issues may be alleviated once the person gets their full set of vaccine; hopefully that proves to be true in your case!

Long Covid - I wouldn't wish it on anyone. Have the jabs!

As others have said, the interval seems to be as much about supply and supply-chain logistics as anything. Our relatively plentiful supply of vaccines was, in our state and most others, parceled out on a priority basis where the most vulnerable (oldest and those with other health issues) and health-care workers were at the head of the list, then moving to younger, less vulnerable… Meg got her first jab in late January and her second 3 weeks later; I got mine Feb 8 and March 8. Why hers was a 3 week interval, mine a 4 week interval is a mystery but that is the way they scheduled us.

That’s a terrible way to do it. It should be based on clinical need, and nothing else.
I had mine on 13 Feb and 24 April, ie 10 weeks apart. Over here they’re narrowing the gap to try and get ahead of the so-called Indian variant.

My understanding is that 4 weeks is the minimum in order to get maximum
effectiveness, but if countries are prioritizing getting more people
partially vaccinated, they may delay the second shot to have higher overall
resistance. i.e. two people at 70% is more effective overall than one at
90%.
Thats what is happening up here.

Quite true. They have doubled the interval in SA so more over 60's can
get their 1st shot before any 2nd shots are administered. Things have
taken months to get moving at all.

Sorry to hear Malcom but I hope you are on the mend. A good friend of the
WD caught it last March in the start of all this and she had a hell of a
time, in hospital for 2 weeks and very hard to breath said it felt like
someone was poking her in the chest with a needle every time she took a
breath.
Let's hope the vaxx does what it supposed to do.

It seems to work. Where I am, we were practically the North American hot
spot 3 months ago. The powers that be started shifting vaccinations to
my city in mid March, and not things have started to settle down quite
nicely.
They took a bunch of restrictions off today, restaurants can now offer
increased seating, indoor gatherings can now be as many as 10 people
(last week indoor gatherings were whoever lives there, that's it), etc.
We now have enough people vaccinated that in a few weeks they will be
lifting more restrictions, and with luck, by mid July we might actually
be able to have something of a normal life again.
I'm able to book my second shot in a week, or possibly sooner.

I actually had Covid about four weeks ago. It could have killed me,
with my underlying condition, but, actually wasn't that bad, not that
I'd recommend getting it as a way to gain immunity.

Very sorry to hear that, Malcolm. Hope that you're well on the way to recovery
and that there are no long term effects.
It beggars belief that there are still those who believe that Covid is a hoax, a
Government conspiracy or just a dose of flu.
Marg & I had our first AZ dose in March - second jab in a couple of weeks.
Cheers
