Nope, it will be several months between shots up here because they want
to get first shots to as many people as possible as quickly as possible.
I'm OK with this, what with living in the North American hot spot at the
moment.

I'm not sure where I'll be at, as the powers that be seem insistent on
pulling the AZ vaccine off the market.

That’s how it’s being done over here too. I had my first shot in mid-Feb and expect the second in early-mid May.

The approach seems to be working, and we are already well into the second shots for the more at-risk people. Cases, hospitalisations and deaths has fallen very dramatically. Where I live the estimated number of cases has fallen from about 1,800 in late Jan to 62 today. Whether that continues for much longer remains to be seen as restrictions are being loosened and we are about to go into Easter weekend, so there will probably be a lot of people travelling to the beach here.

This can be compared with the situation in France, Germany etc where the vaccination programme has been slower, the number of cases etc is rising, and restrictions are being tightened.

There is a political argument between the UK and the EC about distribution of the vaccine and a good deal of stupid talk from both sets of politicos, but at least the vaccinations work, so hopefully the entire world will have an adequate supply as soon as possible.

Unfortunately, we are going to be playing whack-a-mole with this one,
mostly because people are so fucking self centered that they are
actively creating an environment for the virus to mutate.
I know we aren't supposed to mention politics, but Donald Trump deserves
to have a pike stuck up his ass so that he can be slow roasted on a spit
because it was his incompetence, ignorance and malfeasance that created
the politicizing of common sense health guidelines that is giving us a
lot of these variants of concern.
The guy should have been drowned at birth.

I had the same symptoms without the fever after jab 2. They’re very common,
particularly in younger folks than you.

My wife had a typically strong reaction to the second (Pfizer) shot.
She had the swollen "Covid arm", drowsiness, and the like.
I had absolutely no reaction at all. That's not entirely unusual for
me - I rarely have any reaction to things like the annual flu shot -
but the fact that I did have a (slight) reaction to the first Covid
jab led me to hypothesize that maybe my "first shot" reaction was in
fact a response from an immune system that had already been primed
somehow by a low-level (and totally asymptomatic) exposure.

That theory now seems to be making the rounds in the local medical
communities after several (far more severe) reactions to first shots
have occurred.
