In the coast area we didn't get the heavy rain with flooding as in
Germany, Belgium and southern part of the Netherlands.
However, it has been a wet spring and early summer.
Butterflies are very late, whereas dragonflies are abundantly present.
I catched some female emperor dragonflies laying eggs:
https://flic.kr/p/2mbAD9S
https://flic.kr/p/2mbxYKa
And to complete one in flight, as I can never resist trying to catch,
always resulting in dozens of unuseful images:

The first two are fascinating because that's something I've never seen before.

Excellent, especially the one of the dragonfly in flight.  That is a good,
sharp image with great color rendition and a pleasing oof background.

Thanks Dave and Larry.
Larry, the camera (K-70) is fairly good, however the lens (55-300 PLM),
is very good for this type of medium distance tele work.
I bought this camera specially for this lens so I don't have to fit it
on the K-1.
Saves a lot of weight as well to keep in the air.

You may call it an empress, as long as you mean the anax imperator (female).

I should think it would have to agree in gender, number and case with anax, which has a masculine ending.

It is not in my Latin dictionary so i googled it. It appears to be an ancient Greek word for a tribal leader or warlord, so a similar meaning.

Αναξ doesn’t appear in my modern Greek dictionary but the words beginning with αναξ all concern uselessness, incompetence and nepotism. Plus ça change, plus c’est la même chose.

Great pictures, regardless.
