The female would have to be "imperatrix"!

Thanks Alan.
You may call it an empress, as long as you mean the anax imperator
(female).

I scrolled through. Great stuff there. Shoudn't the female be an
Empress Dragonfly?

However, it has been a wet spring and early summer.
Butterflies are very late, whereas dragonflies are abundantly present.
I catched some female emperor dragonflies laying eggs:

And to complete one in flight, as I can never resist trying to
catch, always resulting in dozens of unuseful images:

I like them all equally.. as to "producing dozens of unuseful images "
along the way.. noting really wasted as long as you have enuff room on
your card when you are shooting.. one of the true benefits of digital
photography.
Glad you were spared the terrible floods, Henk.

Excellent, especially the one of the dragonfly in flight. That is a good,
sharp image with great color rendition and a pleasing oof background.

Thanks Ann.
When I was a young boy I had only 8 pictures 6 x9 cm on the Agfa roll in
my box camera and then I had to save money again for the next roll.
That fact will always have an impact on my way of shooting.
