But I haven't touched any of the Pentax items for over a year, and my M1X outfit is a lot lighter to carry, and gives me a range from 12mm to 300mm focal lengths in just two lenses and one TC.

I have to admit that phones today are pretty darn good cameras. I don't have a K1, and I don't push the limits of my cameras too hard, but I'm reasonably sure that the M1X is at least as good as my K5 (and, most of the time, significantly better) for anything I ask it to do. The one thing I do occasionally miss is not having a second body. But as I only *had* to use a second body once in all the years (when my PZ-1p stopped working on a rainy day; the MX I had as a backup wasn't in the least bit bothered by getting rained on) I'm not losing a whole lot of sleep worrying too much about that.
