You may have done this already, but just in case:
On every new Windows computer (installed or preinstalled), the first thing
I do is going through a bunch of privacy configurations, disabling all
types of information sharing.
There are a bunch of sites that have lists of those and how to find them.
I usually use 1-3 of them, as they differ in the content and clarity.

The manufacturer sent me a replacement unit. It started up with no
apparent problems (yet) & I'm setting it up now.
I've got to install all of the software I use and configure it.

that it will only send/receive plain text.
I just spent half an hour on the phone with Spectrum's Tech Support
getting the correct settings for the roadrunner email servers, so I hope
y'all can see this. I'll save this message so I can follow up on the
links once I get Firefox installed and relegate Windoze Edge to it's
proper place.
I've got a 9 page print out of all my accounts & the security settings I
need to implement. One of the things I need to do is set up my hosts file.

I think I now have my email client set up for my three email accounts.
It should default to plain text whenever I try to send an email.

Yeah, something is working. I'm still trying to figure out what it is.
My print out is mostly one line entries for software to install, product
keys, passwords and configuration notes. I'm about a quarter of the way
down the first page so far.
I have Thunderbird mostly set up to be like I want it to be, but the
menu across the top keeps switching itself off. I've got to figure out
how to make it stop doing that and I've got to figure out why Windoze
doesn't seem to want me to pin it to the task bar where I want it.
I have the filter for PDML active now and it does appear to be getting
list messages, but "reply all" wants to reply to the list and CC:
whoever I'm responding to.
Got to figure out how to make it just reply to the list.
I've spent the last 30+ years getting that other computer set up to do
things the way I want to do them. I hope it doesn't take that long to
get this one squared away.
