Thanks for the update, Paul. I must say I had wondered a few times.
Looking forward to seeing her artistic endeavours.

Thanks for asking.Grace is doing well. She’s 16 and has become an excellent artist. I will post some of her work when I have a minute. She moved to Texas with her mother several years ago. Broke my heart, but I always new she wouldn’t be here forever. I’m thankful for the 12 years we had, recorded in several thousand photos.

She's a teenager now isn't she? (IIRC, my niece is the same age, born in 2003 wasn't it?)

That photo ... I bet the sound (kids having fun) was wonderful. Nowadays I don't get to hear enough of it.

We never got to do much sledding when I was young enough to enjoy it. And I don't think the kids around here get much either.

We don't get enough snow that it would pack well enough to make a sledding area on grass.

The city (Durham or Raleigh) did sometimes close off streets for sledding if we got snow, and they would stay closed as long as the snow lasted (2 -3 days max), but it wouldn't be long before there was only pavement again.

Well, fortunately Texas is NOT on the other side of the moon, so you can visit
there and she could come visit you. So you're not completely cut off from each
other.

And IIRC, you have Facebook, so I expect that's another avenue for visits.

I'm pretty sure Texas allows 16 year olds to have at least a provisional
driver's license.

When I was 15 1/2 I got my pink slip in California for Driver's Ed. Don't know if it's changed. On the subject of which, Lynbrook High School is planning a mega-reunion in 2023 (I would have been class of '76 but we returned to England before my junior year) so I'm looking at maybe coming over to do some touring..........

That would be cool. Maybe by then things will be more or less normal with Covid
only a memory.

Back when I was 15-1/2 you could get a learner's permit (you could drive with
your parents in the car) IF you had completed Driver's Ed & if you had
Driver's Ed you could take the License test at 16 and were more or less
unrestricted after that.

Because of the way my school scheduled Driver's Ed I only had a learner's permit
for about a month before I was allowed to take the test.

And I think now the license 16 year olds get (IF they have Driver's Ed) is
restrictive. Not supposed to drive after dark ... I don't know how they enforce
it though.

Without Driver's Ed you have to wait until age 18 to take the test. And you're
insurance rates are going to be a lot higher. But there are still some kids who
don't take Driver's Ed for whatever reason.
