OT: Presidential Visit to my Home Town

There was another type integral with the zoom lens. The pistol grip
controlled the zoom & the trigger the shutter. I nearly bought one in
the 1970's but it worked out too expensive. Can't for the life of me
remember the make.

Got it - Novoflex Made in Germany. Not zooms. Fixed focus Tele's. The
one I looked at was a 600mm.

Exactly. That was a much more serious proposition and quite popular with
bird photographers in its day.
