Images recovered from preview

My photography has come in bursts the last several years, most often associated with extended stays in the Big Bend area of far southwest Texas. Lots of photos from those trips, but very little processing, editing, printing.

Almost all my photography since 2018-2019 has been with my iPhone. In fact, I sold my Pentax camera and all my lenses. I still have a Fuji X-M1 and a 27mm lens. I can’t remember the last time I used it.

A could years ago I subscribed to Adobe’s Lightroom Classic, so I could still access the camera images I’ve been neglecting. A couple weeks ago, one of the hard drives on which I had my mostly Pentax photos failed. Fortunately I still had a backup on another drive, which I copied to a new hard drive.

I decided to take a look at my collection. I’m impressed and concerned. Impressed that there are some good images here and there. Concerned that images in probably over half of the directories display as “recovered from preview.”

I am hoping this is due to something other than that I have somehow lost the original images. Suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,
