We're off on another bicycling trip next week. This time it's Belgium
(with apologies to H2G2 fans for the language!) We start in
Luxembourg, actually, but all but the first day is in Belgium, ending
up in Bruges. We loved Bruges when we were there in January so we're
really looking forward to seeing it in better (we hope) weather.
Photos to follow shortly.

On your Merckx, get set, go!!
Try to get a copy of Flandrien by Stephan Vanfleteren before you go. For inspiration.
https://www.stephanvanfleteren.com/flandrien
I bought a copy when it first came out, at the exhibition in London. Rare as hen’s teeth now, but brilliant.

It will be so crowded you won't see much of it. Bruges is best of season.

Or 'Belgicum' which is a fine cross-sample of Vanfleteren's work in
general. 'Charleroi' is also great.

Yes, we've been warned about that. But we'll probably be too tired to
do much by the time we get there :-)

There's a one word answer to that. Electricity.

Good point! We'll be able to watch television!
Actually, there's a better one-word answer: Beer.

Funny how Belgian television sounds like an insult, cf Mr Adams, but Belgian beer is definitely not. Maybe there's a causative link. The really good thing about electric bikes is that you can decide, to a greater or lesser degree, how tired you will be at the end of the day. Doesn't do much for the state of your perineum, sadly.

Lisa's going with an electric bike this time out. We'll send you a
full report on how she likes it.
