Henk, please keep us informed. I would love to see that. Perhaps there
will be an English version?

Driving a car is also not much fun nowadays  in most areas of Europe due to
heavy traffic.
Perhaps age is a factor, but I'm not complaining at all, living in an area
with interesting nature.
And I'm pretty busy already for some time assisting in photo material for a
new book about the nature and history of our coastal area.

Michigan, in Chicago, Illinois -  there is a huge portion of the USA
that is flat

City, though we can get to fairly substantial rises  by car in a couple
of hours drive,
and the city itself has some nice rocky places..

But my parents and I did a lot of travelling around North America - I
always though living in Europe where the distances between countries
were rather
like our distances between states that you could more frequently visit
varying landscapes and altitudes and styles of living and would do so.. and
therefore while your immediate neighborhood is flat, I though you would
have been to places with more dramatic physical geography / geology at
some point.

Ah,  I see  - you are among those who feel you should use a recent photo
for the PUG..

Wonderful you have a photo project to work on..   Certainly understand
the reluctance to travel these days.

I can't travel anymore either.. and what photos I have taken on the past
few years have either been just out my window
with the K-5 or in the neighborhood with the fixed-lens cameras that I
can still lift and are not Pentax.  So I am always
digging out chromes to submit - which you helped with sending me the
gadget for my flatbed scanner.

clipped some of our conversation below so list-meister will let some of
it stay :-)

Thanks Alan for your interest. There will be no English version as it is so
much effort and cost to publish this book.
Not all information and images will fit in the book and some portions may
only appear on the website.
There are a number of biologists and other experts working on the book. My
contribution is only to produce a part of the image material.
I took a lot of photos of the area with my little drone. And amongst my
tasks is to make pictures of exactly the same locations as shown on old
postcards and pictures in the local archives.
You can see some here on double images sliders which I made:
https://duinenenmensen.nl/duinen-van-voorne-vroeger-en-nu/

Henk, this seems a very interesting and challenging project.
I am just curious… in the 3rd slider image on the linked website, there is a family (?) in front of a farmhouse (?) on the left side. On the right side a 2021 version of the scene. Are the people in the 2021 version from the same family? I expect that, in any case, they are going to treasure copies of your before-and-after shots.

Stan, no it is not the same family. Sure, the current owners got prints of
my picture and they did already have a copy of the old postcard of 1910.
The left part of the house was built in the 15th century and it served as a
farm house until 1919. Being the oldest house in the village, its history
is well documented..

I had a good look through that lot. Quite remarkable! Plenty of
opportunities for me to try something like that around here - max. about
