User Interfaces

I have not been shy in my complaints about the Pentax User Interface.  I could probably write a small book about all of the things that annoy me about it.

I have come to the conclusion that compared to the Lumix Gx9 it is a marvel of clarity and usability.  Sitting down with the manual, it took me about an hour to figure out how to get it to bracket exposures.  Certain menu items, referenced in the manual are only available in certain shooting modes, even if they adjust something that affects all shooting modes, and the manual doesn’t say that you have to be in iA mode in order to access them.

The camera is nice and light, and in decent light can get nice photos (though the raw files are  a bit brittle), but damn does the UI suck.  It has gazillions of features, but it’s damn near impossible to access the ones I want.

This seems to be a fairly common complaint regarding user interfaces.
Pentax seems to have the best dog breath, but it is still comparing dog
breath. Ironically, I am typing this on my iPad Pro and am unimpressed with
it to the point of wanting to toss the piece of crap out the window.
