Lightroom Problem, solved (for now...?)

The problem with the unwanted face detection (which could not be turned off) evolved quickly into LR thinking that I had 43,000 missing photos, in addtion to the 50,000 actual photos on my hard drive. It also seemed to attach some urgency to my finding said photos, though they did not exist.

I had 2 long on-line sesions with Adobe support staff, which got nowhere; they ended with some suggestions that I tried, and they just didn’t work.

Wednesday I tried again and got a tech (Nisha) who was bright, curious, and eager to be helpful. The upshot of four hours interacting via Bomgar (allowing her to control my computer remotely while chatting) was that LR had become convinced, for no apparent reason, that I was hiding a folder that contained the 44,000 missing pics. She managed to persuade Lightroom that this was not the case, and then we set about rebuilding and checking the catalog.

So… It appears that I’m back in business. Might have to post a PESO again this weekend.

Lightroom was probably looking for 43000 pictures of people.
