Sorry to hear about the great kerfuffle, Dan! I hope it all sorts out for you quickly.

This week past seemed a little out of kilter, lots of stuff seeming to be going on but, when I look back on it, not much identifiable as "something happened". More pix in the pipeline, and the backup is mounting. Two little sets I did this week …

  • I pulled out my cheap, old, Nikon F mount Sigma 600mm f/8 mirror lens, stuck it on the appropriate set of adapters, and hung the Leica M10 Monochrom off the back with the Visoflex 020 EVF fitted. Put in an Orange filter, set it on the tripod, and did a few test shots … a couple in the near field and a one across the church parking lot and up to the steeple:

A 600mm lens is hardly a walk around shooter (I always use it on a tripod only!), but I can see some uses for it on the M10-M every so often. I'm very glad I have the full filter set for it, it only cost me about $85 or so once upon a time. :)

  • The second set was made with the M10 Monochrom to test a new, cheap lens acquisition: a Lomography "Lomo LC-A Minitar Art Lens 32mm f/2.8" that I acquired a little while back but had mostly ignored. I should have that ready to post a little later today. Quick sum up: It's a decent performer with a lot of "character" … that is, on the Monochrom, a lot of corner edge fall-off, contrasty in the middle, nice corner/edge smearing, sharp enough to be useful on center, and it's small, light, works with the rangefinder well, and cheap. Good for bashing about and doing fun photos. Curiously I found it a bit less compatible with the CL (mirrorless) than with the M10-M. I'd be interested to use it on an M10-R or P for color, and with my M4-2 body as well.

Enjoy!

onwards,
G

I posted a few things, but there were no comments.
I commented on a few posts that were made by others.
It has, however, been unusually quiet.

Wednesday, after packing food for the Food Bank distribution at Rotary, I
took my dog for a long walk in the chilly weather.  On my way home, a car
drove past displaying blinking red and blue lights.  I said to myself, "
hope that isn't a volunteer fireman speeding to my house."  To my relief,
he turned away from our house at the corner.  Before I got home, however,
my wife notified me that the fireman had been on the way to our rental
house.  One of the tenants; children had placed a plastic toy on the top of
the electric range, causing a smokey fire.  The range and the hood were
total losses, and the wall and an adjacent countertop were damaged.  So, I
have spent much o9f the past few days dealing with insurance adjusters,
contractors, and appliance stores.

Great fun.

Where is everyone?

Only sixteen posts in the past week, by my count.

Only four of us have posted photos, and they’ve gotten very few comments.

How about some pix and commentary, friends?

Rick
