Would anyone be interested in an alternative PDML gathering this Spring?
I'd be happy to help with something in the mid-Atlantic. Maybe a state
park in PA or NY. I'd also be willing to travel to the south or midWest.
Thanks!

Yes! It would be good to see people! Got rid of my camping gear a few years
ago, so would need accommodations.

Sorry if you get this twice. Looks like the Mailman software didn't like
my message the first time I sent it. .
Alright, it looks like reserving cabins at any State park anywhere is fine,
so long as we don't need it before 2022. Plan B: The Potomac Appalachian
Trail Club maintains several cabins along the AT, which can be reserved up
to 60 days in advance. There is availability for many of the cabins for
the weekend of June 4/5, but I wouldn't expect them to last long. I am
unavailable the next weekend, June 11/12. Any weekend after that is fine,
though. I've compiled a list of cabins that have all of the following:
running water, indoor toilets, electricity, and parking at the cabin. I'm
ok with hiking in or using an outhouse, but I don't want to assume anyone
else is. So I'm playing it safe here. This list is in roughly north to
south order.
Gypsy Spring
Little Cove
Highacre
Glass House
Horwitz
Lambert
Huntley
Old Rag
Cliff's House
Dunlodge
You can see details and some photos by going to
https://www.patc.net/PATC/Cabins/Where_They_Are/PATC/Cabins/Where_They_Are.aspx
and clicking on the interactive map. If we can get a few people
interested, and can agree on a weekend and maybe a preferred cabin and an
alternate or two, I'd be happy to try my level best to get us a
reservation. They require Friday and Saturday nights, but we can add
Thursday and/or Sunday if we want. We'll divvy up the rate once we're sure
who's going and how long we're all staying. Anyone traveling through or
near Harrisburg is welcome to ride down with me. I can probably take 2
others, allowing room for groceries, coolers, liquor, luggage, and cameras.
Anyway, if this looks interesting to anyone, I'm in. I am also open to
other suggestions.

Somehow my reply that I would be interested didn't go through to the list.
I would be interested. Tell me when & where & how much money & what to bring
(other than my camera which is a given).

Scott, thanks for looking into this. I am interested in joining the party but unsure whether we’ll be able to make a commitment. Our major flood-damaged-kitchen restoration project is now finally under contract with the guy saying “maybe May or June we’ll get to it…”
I was a member of PATC many decades ago, Meg and I met through PATC, I was Chair of the Mountaineering Section, then also VP of PATC for a year and then Treasurer, Meg and I maintained a 3 mile stretch of the AT, etc. So staying in one of these cabins would be like coming home! Most of the cabins are open to Members Only and when we were actively involved Members had a head start on getting reservations even for the Public cabins.
An alternative I had thought of is the Watkins Glen State Park in New York. I know camping is available, maybe cabins? And for sure many motels in the area. But what made me think of the Glen, apart from the obvious photo opportunities, is that I attended my 50 Year High School reunion there a few years ago. The main event was a catered dinner held in a large building with plenty of space. If that is of interest I could see if any surviving classmates know what the arrangements were…

I wish I could!!
Sadly my boat refit is taking up all time/funds/energy at the moment, with no letup for a long time - I'm already 6 months behind schedule. Also, internatonal travel is going to be a right royal pain up the arse for the forseeable - maybe by the time the GFM remodelling is finished, I might be in a position to give it a go. Might even bring some Pentax gear ;-)
Sounds good and I'm envious!
