Hi,
Anyone here have any experience with Apple Photomator?
What’s your opinion of it, please? Pros, cons, etc. with special reference to Adobe LR.
Background is, I will shortly run out of cloud space on LR mobile, and it seems to be impossible to increase it beyond 1TB. Having to work round this will complicate my life unnecessarily.
I sync my cloud files to an external SSD using LR Classic. Now it seems as though I’ll have to get rid of some of the cloud files, and therefore have to deal with unmatched file sets, which is a nightmare waiting to happen, so I’m having a think about moving to something which I can keep simple and easy, with all of the image files in one place (eg iCloud) where I can use them on any Apple device, plus a backup on an external SSD.
Presumably many of you have already exceeded the 1TB threshold. How do you deal with it?
Thanks,
B
A 5TB Spinny drive is like $130.

Hi Bob,
I've not used LR Mobile at all so can't really help with that.
I don't use cloud storage for anything to do with my photography, however. My photo rendering workflow is 95% centered on my Mac mini desktop system, with LR Classic and local storage. The other 5% is what I might do on the iPhone or iPad Pro occasionally, with either Photos or Snapseed (or now Photomator). When I've completed some work there, usually because I'm traveling or otherwise away from my desktop, it is integrated back into my desktop workflow when I get back home.
Photomator is new, descended from Pixelmator which Apple acquired. I've used Pixelmator in the past and it works well, a fine alternative to Photoshop for what I do. I only just downloaded Photomator a day or two ago and haven't had much time to see what changes have been made. But I expect it will be a good and useful image editing tool. Exactly how to integrate it with a LR Mobile/LR Classic workflow best is yet to come.
Sorry to be so little help.
G
