I thought you might enjoy a couple of photos of one of my favorite shooting rigs ...

This is such an excellent lens, its SLR equivalent (Pentax-L 43 Limited) my favorite from the years I used Pentax equipment. I've had the lens for a few years now ... they were made in a small batch of about 2000 and sold mostly in Japan. I found this example without a finder at a good price, which didn't matter when I was using it on EVF cameras, but since I'm using the Leica M (digital and film) most of the time now, I've been hunting for the original finder made for it. I finally located one at a fair price; it arrived yesterday... it's beautifully finished and optically excellent.

An M, the Pentax 43, and the new Voigtländer APO-Skopar 75mm f/2.8 are a compelling, 'do most of what I ever want in a very small package' travel kit ...

The 75mm is a stunning performer too, and it's actually a little smaller/lighter than the Pentax 43. Also note that I find the use of a green filter on a monochrome digital sensor does "just the right thing" about 95% of the time, so I include one for each lens as a part of the travel kit.

Now to go out and do some shooting again. :D

Nice!

I see a M43 Panasonic GX8 in my future and I’m thinking about a similar setup in terms of prime lens, quite wide though. When I go out with my Oly OM-D I tend to use a Samyang 12/2 (which offers an angle of view same as 24mm on full frame) but I wouldn’t mind something that gives me something between 30 and 40mm FF. Doesn’t necessarily need to be fast but prefer if possible. The nice thing about M43 (as you know) is its ability to use lenses from just about any manufacturer with an adapter. Hence I wonder what the Pentax 21mm Ltd would be like on M43 - anyone have any experience? Or any recommendations for anything else? Clearly manual focus and aperture are desirable!

I was thinking of the GX80 which is smaller but I hate rear LCDs that don’t fold away closed.

I have two GX8s and a whole load of m43 lenses. I’d quite like one of the GX8s and some of the lenses to go to a new home, so when you’re ready we can maybe have a chat about it.

I also have a Pentax K 20mm lens, although I don’t think I’ve tried it on a GX8. I might give that a try later and post the results. I think I might also have a Panasonic 20mm f1.7, so that would make a good comparison.
