I am looking for a Pentax item & wondered if the collective wisdom of
the list might help - either someone has it & wants to get rid of it or
knows WHERE I might find one for sale.

PENTAX circular polarizing filter FA x (with case) 35184

Apparently fits both the FA* 600/4 and the FA* 300/2.8.

I've checked KEH and B&H, messaged a camera shop in Osaka that has a FA*
600/4 on offer on eBay and submitted a contact request at ricoh-imaging.

No joy so far, although it's really too soon to expect anything from
Japan or Ricoh here in the U.S.

I hope one of y'all can help.

I was curious about this and looked into it.

It seems that both lenses use a 43mm internal filter, and it isn't clear
whether you can use any 43mm filter.

AI seems to think that you can't use a circular polarizer as an internal
filter, but maybe that's just because it's hard to adjust it.

The 300/2.8 will take a 112mm (IIRC) front filter.

I'm curious what your specific goal is, and whether its worth trying to
get a more available 43mm CPL

Is there anything special about the Pentax version or is this an
'ordinary' circular polarizing filter for a 112 mm thread like this one:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/317514597737

Could be had from a number of manufacturers. Given the choice, I'd
recommend Heliopan.

That specific part has the polarizing filter built in. It has a little
knurled knob that allows the polarizing filter to rotate.

This is the part I'm looking for.

I've looked at that previously, but I don't think it will fit the FA*
600mm f4.

Best I can tell it's a 49mm filter and the 600/4 is 43mm.

I'd be willing to substitute that one IF I knew it would fit, but
someone who knows Pentax lenses better than I would have to let me know
it would fit.

If anyone on the list KNOWS that it WILL fit, I'd be interested in knowing.

My specific goal is to obtain THE "PENTAX CPL FA* (with case) 35184"
filter unit that fits into the rear filter slot of the FA* 600/4, so
that I can have a polarizing filter that works with the FA* 600/4

What I have been able to learn on-line is that the SAME filter unit
also fits the rear filter slot of the FA* 300/2.8

But I only have the FA* 600/4

(My 300/2.8 is an older Sigma FILM lens that has a different way of
handling a CPL in the rear filter slot ... also it's a 46mm filter.)
