Memorial Day is a big deal in Somerville. Pre-COVID there was always a big
parade early in the morning, followed by several bike races through the
streets of downtown, culminating in The Tour of Somerville, a
prestigious 50 mile race for professional and top international ameteur
riders.
This year the weather was absolutely beautiful, if a bit hot, as I walked
through town on my way to watch the big race. As I passed the Somerset
County Jail, two blocks east of the race course, I noticed a contrail high
above in the clear blue sky, heading out of Liberty International Airport,
24 miles to the Northeast. The contrast between the prisoners behind those
windowless walls and the passengers high above in the westbound airliner
seemed symbolic of something, perhaps the value of freedom.

I was to some extent trying to make this a parallel image to my Beige and

Dan, in terms of your intent (re Santa fe) it worked for me - I thought
of that shot immediately ... but building is too pretty from what we
see as audience
for your symbolism to go beyond your own contemplation. For me the
contrail spoils the shot geometically.
