The lizard orchid (Himantoglossum hircinum) is a very rare species in
our country.
I followed the growth of the only specimen of this flower known in our
vicinity (I discovered the hidden location) and was surprised by the
details upon blooming .

Taken with my new 55-300 PLM lens on the K-1, a nice semi macro combo.

 fine "portrait"

  • it looks to me like some odd undersea creature.. - how exciting to
    find a rare species ..

and of course I went through a lot of other photos .. which is always a
treat.. and I think there is a shot there of the lizard early in its
bloomage, so to speak.(I don't think "bloomage" is actually a word :-))

Thanks Ann. Somehow this pic reminds me of Dali paintings.
It is always amazing to see details in close ups not visible from normal
distances.
A lot of photo work waiting now the weather is improving here.
I hope you are still enjoying your new camera.
