GESO: Galapagos Fauna

The September PUG theme, Marine Life, first had me thinking about Marine Corps recruits sweating away doing their early morning calisthenics. But then I recalibrated and went into photos from our late-March 2018 visit to the Galapagos. That 2018 visit is very much on my mind as we shortly will be doing a late-September re-visit to many of the same spots. At first I was stuck on images of the Sally Lightfoot Crab, but then found another subject for the PUG. Tune into the September PUG when Brian unveils it in a few weeks. Meanwhile a few of my not-selected are here:  https://photos.stanhalpin.com/p926724626  The first image is of a pair of Galapagos Flightless Cormorants. Distant cousins to PDML’s favorite bird.

Note that  the host for my galleries is Zenfolio. I am quite pleased with them in all respects except that recently that started “archiving” older images. As you would see if you visit my current GESO linked above, and then started browsing around, any/most of the galleries in the GESO thread have been archived. I just hit the Retrieve button on those, but it might be 12-24 hours from now before the other galleries in that section are accessible again.

Stunning colours do these crabs have. Nice combination also with the
sleeping seal.
With such series of the Galapagos I can imagine you have difficulties to
decide which picture to select for PUG :)

Thanks Henk! I don’t know if you noticed that all 4 images have the crab? The one in the cormorant image is somewhat hiding in a horizontal crack…
