Who is the Greatest Pentx Mind of Them ALL ??

Hiya Pentaxians

I have a question - who is the greatest Pentax mind here when it comes to lens parts?

The reason I ask is simple. Ahem. Does anyone know which other Pentax lenses have the largest rear element, similar (if not the same) in size to the A*85mm f/1.4 ??

I’m after a lens that has a large rear element, from a parts lens or parts bin, so I can salvage the ‘diaphragm turning ring’ - which is part X-25 on the exploded view on thies page:

Do. Not. Ask. Me. Why.

MANY thanks

Cotty

My guess is that you would need to look at equivalencies.

85/1.4 is about 60.7

50/60.7  = 0.8
100/60.7 = 1.65
170/60.7 = 2.8
200/60.7 = 3.3
300/60.7 = 5

The difference with the longer focal lengths is I expect that the aperture can be further away, and that the image cone has necked down a bit by the back of the lens.

Long story short, I'd guess that your best luck financially might be to look at some of the tamron adaptall lenses.

For Pentax, maybe something in the 200/2.8 range might work, since there aren't a lot of 100/1.8 lenses floating about.

Belay that.

I’m an idiot.

That ring is the same size on every lens - it has to be because it provides an aperture lever at the same point on every K mount lens. (yes I just said ‘aperture lever’ - a few of you will just have spat coffee at your screens, sorry about that)

Oh joy.

Has there been one for 2023? Might have missed it during my troubles
with GMX.
