FWIW, Amazon has the Epson R220, although it may fall under "nothing I can afford".

John .. you got that right..LOL  !  Also, I avoid Amazon like the plague.

HOWEVER
I got one on ebay for $235 - New. from a very nice long time reliable
seller.  IT is due to arrive on Friday.
However (gain)   I have just discovered that expired ink cartridges (
read "cheap") for it are less common than those for the 2400... :-( .. and
more expensive..

I was about to write an email to the list to ask for anyone's suggestion
for a reliable third party ink supplier - or a good source of outdated
Epson inks  I need the T048 series.  I should not need them -yesterday-
the New in box printer comes with a full set but as I remember with less
ink
in each than when bought individually or full set new.

Thanks for your research, though it is much appreciated

I used to avoid Amazon, and I still prefer to buy from local merchants whenever
possible, but more and more I'm finding that I can't get what I want from
anyplace except Amazon.

Or some Amazon marketplace seller has it at a price so much lower I can't afford
to pass it up.

Plus they finally fixed the main thing that used to bother me - they now collect
the North Carolina sales tax so I don't have to fool with North Carolina's
stupid internet tax when I'm figuring out my taxes every year.

I don't think you can find non-wireless anything anymore.

I have a Canon Pixma ix6520, which was replaced in the Canon lineup with
the ix6820, almost immediately after I bought it.  The ix6820 is selling
for $175.,  most places, and I assume that the wireless connectivity can
be turned off, because it has USB connectivity as well.  I know it has
drivers for Win7 because they are the same as for the ix6520.

The printed results are pretty good, as it's a CMYK system, though they
don't advertise it as a photo printer.

Hey PJ
too late!  But thanks for the suggestion.  The good news is..   I got a
brand new  Epson R220 on ebay for $234  (of course using credit card)
it arrived
yesterday. The drivers were still on my computer from a few years ago...
but I inserted the cd anyway to do the licencing agreement.. my info came up
with my landline phone on it.. but I did the licencing agreement stuff
again.  Had a brief hiccup related to cd printer stuff which I skipped
and then all went smoothly. works like a dream..  I made enough on ebay
in the last week to pay for half of it...
PRinter bought from a long time ebay seller with 100% positive buyer
feedback who also lived fairly close by - in Bridgeport :-) shipping ws
low too
but FEDEX of course did it's usual thing.. rang my bell, didn't answer
when I called down the stairs.. just dumped in in the hallway and split -
He was supposed to get my signature!  and fortunately I managed to get
it upstairs one step at a time. and it was fine .. but one end of the
box was
pretty well soaked.

Happy cmper here, in spite of it  off to mail two  ebay sales!

You can get Wi-fi on a non-Wi-fi printer by plugging it into the Ethernet socket or the usb socket on the back of your router.
