Thanks, Mark.
The authorities & vigilantes seem to have tamed the hot-spots but
everyone will need to be wide awake 24/7 going forward. This thing was
well organised. There was plenty of intelligence on social media which
was simply ignored.

Sorry to hear that, Alan. I've seen a few references to the situation
in the news but had no idea it was so widespread. I hope you and your
family are able to stay safe.

Just to let you know.
Sparked by the imprisonment of former President Jacob Zuma, South
Africa has descended into a near state of anarchy in several densely
populated areas no doubt orchestrated by Zuma supporters. The level
of destruction is very serious & will lead to many problems in the
near future especially the distribution of essential goods because
delivery trucks have been burned on the highways too.
The authorities have been slow to react but Taxi Associations &
vigilanties are fighting back to save their infrastructure from
pillage. The Police & Army have been overwhelmed.
Fortunately there are no problems in the Lowveld yet but roadblocks
have been set up on the main roads into Phalaborwa as a precaution
after intelligence suggested that hordes may be on their way.
Please look on the internet if you want more details & commentary.
