A discussion on a photo forum about "fast 50" lenses reminded me that last year I bought a Voigtländer Heliar Classic 50mm f/1.5 VM ... I used it a few times, and things got busy and ... and ... Well, I'd put it away temporarily a long while back and it hadn't come out again for a while.
So ... A long slow-ish morning and I decided I needed to take a walk and get some brunch. Grabbed the M10 Monochrom with the Heliar 50 on it, fitted a green filter, and went out seeing what I might see. Made 13 exposures .. This one caught my eye.

Very nice, lovely tonality - that looks like a beautiful lens. I have a couple of Voigtlander lenses, the 28/2 in VM, and the 50/0.95 in m43, they’re a pleasure to use. I’m a big fan of YG filters too.

Hi BobW!
Thanks! Yes, the Heliar Classic 50/1.5 VM is really nice ... I especially like how the blur progresses both in front of and behind the focus plane. Its behavior and rendering reminds me a lot of the 1972 Summilux 35mm f/1.4 (pre-ASPH), one of my most prized and used lenses.
Yes, I remember the Voigtländer Nokton 25/0.95 for m43! I'd planned to get the whole trio of f/0.95 lenses that Cosina-Voigtländer made in that mount, but in the usual equipment chaos I didn't get to it. I even sold the Panasonic-Leica Summilux-DG 25/1.4 ASPH to a friend, then later regretted it and bought another one. Still have that one. ;) While I haven't used it for anything serious in some time, I still have a fairly complete FT-mFT kit ... I pull it out, charge the batteries, and exercise the two bodies (Oly E-1 and E-M1) every couple of months to keep them in good condition.
Too much equipment, not enough time and energy ... LOL!

The Pentax A 50/1.2, while seldom seen, is a nice lens when minimal depth of field and good point of focus sharpness is called for. I had one for a few years but eventually sold it since I rarely used it. Shot this window portrait of my wife with it, wide open and focused on her left eye.

It looks very nice and is easy to use attached to my recently-acquired LUMIX S5, so I may take it with me, along with my Pentax K 50/1.2, on a forthcoming trip for times when I need something smaller and faster than the honking great big 24-105/4 that will be most used.
