PESO: Shitstorm

When I am raising my Monarch larvae, they get to a point where they
devour large amounts of milkweed leaves every day.  Monarchs are milkweed
eating machines, and they are also pooping machines! This poop, called
frass, is expelled as little dark green blobs.  To keep the larvae healthy,
one must clean out the cage daily.

This is the devastation they cause:

The stripped plants are a familiar sight here. We usually put them under netting which we can close up to prevent too many eggs being laid on them. Our plants survived last season in pretty good shape.

As ours are in the garden we don't need to worry about the excrement :)

Cheers,
Dave
