PESO: Where is La Nino?

Never thought I would see the day. This was by far the hottest day we
have experienced in Phalaborwa in the 48 years we have lived here. La
Nino is sleeping. We've been sitting around 40 every day for a month
with Tue, Wed & Thurs at 42. The Lowveld, its People & the game could be
in big trouble. Not a drop of rain in the last month.

I realize that I may be the only pedant on this list but it would be El
Nino or La Nina. If I were more pedantic, or less lazy, I'd figure out
how to type the n with the ~, for example there is a significant
difference between "feliz an~o nuevo" and "feliz ano nuevo".

Ouch,

I'd much rather deal with 45 in December in California than in
Phalaborwa that's for sure.

These days I'm feeling a bit down with all the miserable rainy weather
just above zero C here, not at all nice to go outside for making pictures.
Now I realize this is peanuts compared to problems like you have there.

Larry, you are absolutely right. I was very "slap-gat" and wrote it off
the top of my head which still hasn't fully recovered.

This article explains the problem.

Our best hope at this late stage is a couple of extensive cyclones
coming down the Mozambique channel. Some of them have brought extensive
bonus rain over the years.

Larry, with Apple OS or iOS, hold down the n key on the keyboard, a pop-up will appear allowing you to choose among various diacritic (sp?) marks. But, some programs like Mail don’t use the full set.

Very minor issue compared to drought in Africa or any place else!

Type "La Nina" into google search and pick a result that has the ~ over
the 'n' ... copy & paste: La Niña? EZPZ.

I keep a text document with all those ferin (pherin?) spellings, so when
I need one I just copy it from there into email or comment sections.

In windows, linux and probably mac it is much easier to select the
option "US Int. keyboard with dead keys" on a US keyboard . So you type
first ~ followed by n resulting in ñ.
This works similar for ë,  ü, â  and so on. If you want to to type only
~ you have to give a space after it.
