Hello All

I know this is not a Mac mailing list but I thought I would ask the
following question. I have always been a windows user with occasional
dabbling in Linux. My son who moved out left behind I think a 3 year old
Macbook air 13". It's screen no longer works. I have debated having it fixed
to try a mac out for editing photo's. The quotes I have got indicate a cost
for a new screen being about half the advertised price of a new machine.
Would it be worth it? Any other feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Patrick

Has it been inspected? Do you know for a fact it is the screen itself?

Why not just attach an external screen? A 13" screen is a bit claustrophobic.
If you know Linux, the good news is that you can easily get to a bash prompt

As far as I know it was inspected. I will check with an external screen I am
trying to get an idea if it would be worth it.

Hello All

It is a m1 processor, 8 gb ram and 256gb ssd. The screen works but has a strip on the right 5mm (1/4 inch) wide that is not working. Given the low spec and non upgradeability of the mac book air I don’t think I will spend the money to replace the screen. I will however use it to get an idea of how the macs work. I will probably also use it when traveling.
Thanks for the input.

I agree that it is a good machine - I've got one. But for those not
familiar with the "Air" part of MacBook Air it has only two USB-C ports.
The workaround is to get a multifunction dock that plugs into one of them.
I got one that had good reviews on Amazon and it has worked well for
everything asked of it, so far.
