I see you have elected a new Prime Minister.
Politics aside, I suspect the uncertainty of the past several months has
been troublesome, and hopefully is at an end.
Stiff upper lip, olc chaps!

Just back from some time in Iceland and a brief stop in Greenland. Both seem pleasant, civilized locales.

One of them, I don't remember which, has a serious alcohol problem and
an alarming suicide rate.

Two possible responses:
That would reduce one and increase the other.
Have you been to London recently?

Condolences to all in the UK on the death of Queen Elizabeth II.
While I find the concept of royalty troubling, I respect those who looked
up to her as a symbol of Great Britain and what it stands for. She was a
rock of stability in some very unsettled times for her hation and the world.

Much appreciated. Not a time I would like to be picking up the reins to such responsibility. Even if there is ever a good time, given the system.

It was about 1/4- then, I think. That’s 1s and 4d, not a farthing!
Incidentally one of the papers pointed out that we will once again start having notes and coins with different sovereigns on, which we haven’t had since decimalisation in 1974. So people younger than about 50 haven’t seen mixed-sovereign currency before - something I’d never thought about. When I were a lad we had coins in our pockets with the head of Victoria on.
