Very nice!
A law was passed yesterday in our country which may forbid to keep
animals in cages.
I guess pictures may still be allowed:)

Hares have longer ears.

From wikipedia:
Hares and jackrabbits are leporids
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leporidae belonging to the genus
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Genus Lepus. Hares are classified in the
same family https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Family_(biology) as rabbits
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rabbit. They are similar in size to
rabbits and have similar herbivorous diets, but generally have longer
ears and live solitarily
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solitary_animal or in pairs. They do not
dig burrows, but nest in slight depressions called forms, often in long
grass. Also unlike rabbits, their young are able to fend for themselves
shortly after birth https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Precociality rather
than emerging blind and helpless
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Altriciality. Most are fast runners.
Hare species are native to Africa, Eurasia, and North America.

Hares tend to be solitary, rabbits communal.  Hares are bigger, have longer and bigger back legs and ears.  The ears usually have a black mark near the end.  Hares tend towards brown, rabbits to grey in colour.  Rabbits live in burrows, hares live above ground.  Hares have longer faces than rabbits.  Both are lagomorphs, not rodents, due to different dentition.

Surely such a law must be aimed at the terrible practice of "factory
farms"? I can hardly think pet rabbits, racing pigeons, etc. will be
targeted.

True, however with this law it will be possible also to fine owners or
breeders of dogs kept in narrow cages.

Yes, I know what you mean. When we still lived in Rhodesia there was a
chap over the road who had a Bull Terrier breeding "farm" just like
that. His lines, Sandawana Bull Terriers, were in high demand even in
South Africa. He had about 3 breeding males & 20 females. He must have
made a fortune. One night, one of his males got out & ended up tangling
will several dogs on the street, including our Male Dalmatian. The
owner, an excitable Irishman, felt nothing & became very aggressive when
asked about compensation for Vet bills.

Thanks Bill. I appreciate your followup! And I just typed and delated a bunch of philosophical meanderings about cuteness and rabbits and photography. I’ll give it all some more thought…
