I was out walking yesterday as usual and, once in the back lot of the shopping center, these two youngsters saw me snapping a photo of something.. They presumed I was photographing them and started grandstanding for me and the camera. I quickly slammed the aperture to wide open and set a distance on the scale, no time to focus by eye, and snapped just one shot when they lost interest and came over to see what I'd gotten of them:

Catching Air - Santa Clara 2021 :: https://flic.kr/p/2mUzkMy
Leica CL + Color Skopar 28mm f/3.5
ISO 100 @ f/3.5 @ 1/500

They were jazzed that I'd gotten the older of the two of the two dancing the bike on its rear wheel, catching air in such a precarious pose. I wished they'd stuck around for a bit, but they ran off chattering between themselves as youngsters will.

Fun fun fun!  And a Happy New Year to all! Stay well, stay sane, hope for a better year ahead!

enjoy,
G

Fun capture.  Reminiscent of some of my oldest photos which figure kids about that age on stingrays with one or more wheels in the air.

But, he isn’t catching air, only one tire is off the ground.  It’s a good wheelie though.

LOL! In my youth, getting the front wheel up in the air WAS "catching air" with the notion that the front wheel was acting like a sail in the wind... :)

Getting the rear wheel off the ground as well was "flying" and "jumping".
The kids seemed to say ".. doin' tricks for ya! ..."

Language changes with the times and ages.

T'anx!
