Tuesday I took a walk through Center City with a then-acquaintance (now friend) who is a retired professor in a nearby fine arts department, and a professional photographer. It was very interesting, a lot of fun, and we enjoyed an (imperial) pint of Bombardier Bitter in a local pub afterwards.

PS for non-PDMLers: PESO is “Picture(s) Every So Often,” and GEO is “Gallery…”. The usual dividing line is that over 5 shots is a gallery; this collection has 15.

Thanks to all who looked and commented!

Alan, a lot of this part of town was rather run-down when we moved here 39 years ago. It’ still easy to find very run-down neighborhoods in Philly, though there are fewer than there used to be.

Ken, we started about 2pm and the light was rather harsh. My companion-and-mentor steered us to a park (Rittenhouse Square), where the shadows were softened by light reflected off the windows of adjacent apartment buildings. There was also a lot of bracketing involved!

Cheers,

Rick
