Even dealer parts sometimes leave a lot to be desired - a head gasket for a Ford Escort only had cooling holes punched on one side!  Led to a very hot engine...

After my fiasco, I couldn't agree with you more. The replacement parts I will be receiving tomorrow cost roughly 3x the price of the cheap stuff.
