Power:
When traveling with the K10D, I carry three batteries and a travel
charger. Three fully charged batteries can acquire approximately
2100-2400 exposures ... that's 200+ pictures a day on a 10 day trip,
usually much more than I shoot. A small travel charger with plug
adapters for international power outlet requirements and an automotive
12V plug adapter costs about $25 as backup.
Storage:
Each 2G SD card will hold 160-200 .PEF files and costs $20. I carry at
least 10 of them. If I want to have a backup copy of my exposures, i
carry a standalone backup card reader ... the Epson P2000. If I am
planning to carry the laptop, I also carry a pocket FireWire drive and
store the exposures on that.
Whether to carry the laptop or not depends on how seriously I'm going
to be shooting. They are a bulky bit of a pain to carry, no matter
what you do.
