Editorial: Pentax missed the boat?

It is said the CCD had low yields and bad reliability, I think Philis
eventually discontinued it. They also say the camera was built
specifically around that CCD and would have required a lot of
reworking to use another.

No one really knows though.

The MZ-D was to use the same 6 megapixel (3072×2048) full 135 film

used by the Contax N Digital. The lack of success of that camera and

may have had other reasons than cost to cancel the MZ-D project."
