I have a photo and credit on page E9 of today's NY Times. That's in the
Thursday Style section. It's probably the weakest of all the shots I
took at the exercise class the other night. But that's because the
photo desk gave me bad information. I had only two hours to get ready
for the shoot, and I was told that the story was about a boot camp for
men that was run by a woman. They asked for lots of shots of her
whipping guys into shape. That's what I delivered. Next morning, they
call me and tell me that the instructions were wrong. The story is
actually about men who don't want to work out in the presence of women.
Well, of the hundreds of frames I shot, I had one pic of a male trainer
with a male client. So that's the pic they used. They're still happy,
but I would have liked to get a nicer shot in the paper. Another pic
for the story, by a stringer in Texas, is quite good. He apparently
received better direction and probably had a lot more time. Looks like
a DX or a photoshop composite. Anyway, I'm pleased to get work from
them.
