Cotty, Perhaps you should consider the SMC Takumar version of this 
lens.  It has relatively modern coatings and shouldn't require any 
modification at all.  Just screw it into an adapter, set the A/M switch 
to manual and away you go.  It was selling for a bit less as well last 
time I checked.
