Rv: Don't shoot the messenger ;-)

Pentax Imaging will have limited resources because Hoya isn't a camera 
manufacture.  Most of Hoya's products are commodities, (Pentax can't 
compete effectively in the commodity camera market segment, that's why 
they cut back on P&S), and they want to strengthen high return 
manufactured goods, like endoscopes.  Cameras are a specialty market, 
with special marketing needs.  Just too much trouble for a company like 
Hoya.  They either want the best product at the right price point to 
make boodles on volume, or a high margin item to make boodles per unit, 
with a minimum of sales and support hassle.  DSLR Cameras don't fit 
either of those models.  Therefore Pentax's imaging division will have 
no outside resources.  As I said, Pentax saw itself as a camera 
manufacturer.  Everything else was done to keep the imaging division 
viable.  This will end with Hoya, and unless the Imaging division can 
stand on it's own, it will end soon thereafter.
