Strange, maybe I just perceive it as louder, it seems more intrusive. Having 
said that, most of my shots have been at slow shutter speeds with SR enabled.

Or maybe I've got a particularly quiet *ist D, it has less than 5k shutter 
releases, or a particularly noisy K10D!
