SD card repair.

Well, I've been bitten by what I consider one of the cheapest and 
stupidest designs in all computing.  The write protect tab fell off one 
of my SD cards.  I don't know where and I don't know when, (which also 
implies I don't know where the damned tab is either)..  Does anyone have 
a suggestion on what to replace it with?  Something that  won't 
ultimately get stuck in the camera or a card reader?
