Oh piffle. Just when I thought that Pentax was producing something  
that people on the PDML would just have to like, y'all have to get  
critical about lens styling.  There is NO satisfying the people on  
this mailing list.

The green bands and gold bands don't bother me at all. I hardly even  
see them ... had to go back to the photo to see what everyone was  
talking about.

I'm usually looking *through* the lenses, not *at* them.  If I buy  
one and don't like the hood, I'll likely dress it up with a cheap  
screw-in metal hood from a used bin at the flea market, and maybe  
I'll follow Juan's example and tape over all the green/gold/labels/ 
etc. ...
