I'd say a normal (the 31?), but if 'Marine infrastructure' means a harbour  
you could use something with some reach, the FA 28-105 probably. Or longer.

Nah. You could choose a lens that complements the Ixus, though.

MZ-50 + FA28-70/4 or the SuperProgram and one or two primes. Which ones  
depends on the destination, mood, whim, etc...
