I would have asked the same question if I hadn't been asleep. From my
experience there is nothing to gain by applying HDR techniques to
single RAW file. A well converted file should contain all the data
available and if imported into PS as a 16 bit/CC file then it should
be able to be adjusted pretty heavily with out creating any nasty
aberrations. The shadows/highlight tool will produce a similar if not
the same effect if used heavily.
